Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup

Founded in 1977, McWood Studios is a design and fabrication shop located in a state-of-the-art facility in Etobicoke, Ontario. Our studio creates scenery and sets for Film, Television, and Theatre; booths and displays for tradeshows; and custom millwork for museum and art exhibits. We collaborate with designers and architects to deliver unique projects to clients across Canada and the U.S.

This involved the strategic reveal of a  175’ w x 30’ h banner from behind the stands of BMO field during the opening ceremonies.  We worked with the engineer’s requirements for a high-wind action plan.  Ultra-mesh vinyl with air flow allowance was printed, cut and zip tied to soccer netting and then rigged to a 200’ x ½” steel cable. Two 80 ton cranes were used to achieve the lift.
